On February 21, 2019, the School of Biomedical Engineering at Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU), TPM3D, and Black Flame Medical officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement to establish a joint R&D center for medical laser-sintered 3D printing.
The collaboration will focus on the research and development of laser-sintered polymer medical devices, including implant prostheses made from PAEK materials such as PEEK, as well as medical rehabilitation devices like cervical pillows. The center will also explore topology optimization for 3D-printed insoles and soles, establish quality standards, and support medical device certification and industrialization of new products.
The new R&D center represents a significant step in applying SLS 3D printing technology to medical innovation, accelerating industrialization and fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and healthcare.
