On February 21, 2019, the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiaotong University, TPM3D and Black Flame Medical jointly released the strategic cooperation plan of “establishing a joint R&D center for medical laser-sintered 3D printing” and the strategic cooperation agreement was officially signed.
The three parties will cooperate to research and develop in multiple fields such as the design and manufacture of implant prosthesis (bone substitute) made of laser-sintered polymer materials (PAEK polymer materials such as PEEK), establishment of quality standards and registration for medical device certificate. Meanwhile, the application and industrialization study of laser-sintered 3D printing cervical pillows and other devices in the field of medical rehabilitation, the topology optimization of laser-sintered 3D print insole and sole as well as relevant industrial application topics will also be focused by the joint R&D center.
The establishment of the Joint R&D Center for Medical Laser-sintered 3D Printing marks the new application and achievement in the medical field of the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiaotong University, TPM3D and Black Flame Medical on joint development of laser-sintered 3D printing, which will accelerate the process of industrialization.
